Sister Catherine Burns
Sr. Catherine Burns was born in Williamsburg, Iowa. She entered the Congregation of the Humility of Mary in 1957 and made her first vows in 1960.
Sr. Catherine studied education at Ottumwa Heights College and received her bachelor’s degree in English from Marycrest College. She received a master’s in library science from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo and a master's in pastoral studies from St. Paul University in Ottawa, Ontario. Sr. Catherine’s library ministry saw her in Iowa at Marycrest College in Davenport, Lenihan High School in Marshalltown and Marquette High School in West Point. She also served at the St. Phillip Media Center in Battle Creek, Michigan, and in parish ministry at Sacred Heart Parish in Kimberley BC Canada and St. Nicholas Parish in Rupert, Idaho. She ministered at the Center for Aging Service, Inc., in Davenport as a case worker and as a receptionist at the Kahl Home. Sr. Catherine currently resides in Davenport, Iowa, does hospital volunteer work and is active in a ministry of prayer and witness.
