Sister Mary Martina (Jennie) Mataya
Sister Martina was born in Albia, IA of Croation parents. After entering the Congregation of the Humility of Mary in 1930 at age 15, she finished high school and two years of college at Ottumwa Heights. She went on to finish a degree in home economics and biology from the College of St. Catherine, St. Paul, Minnesota.
Sister was an excellent science teacher and often received recognition of such. Her retirement years included a variety of ministries and travel.
