CHM sisters are known for sharing their time, talents and treasure with the communities in which they live. Have you ever wondered how this sharing extends into their own biological families?  Sr. Mary Ann Vogel, CHM President, allowed me to take a look at a treasured album that her family created for her 70th birthday.  Filled with beautiful keepsakes, the letters from her nieces and nephews show over and over how much Sr. Mary Ann's faith and focus on not only her family, but those less fortunate in her community, made an impression on her young family members. Following are just two of the MANY entries in Sr. Mary Ann's album. A beautiful legacy as a result of the sharing of her time, talents and treasure.

"Aunt Mary Ann, You are such a special person, one whom I have and always will admire. You have always been there not only for our family, but also for many other families. No matter the situation you were never judgmental. You always listen and give great advice. One of my fondest memories was when I came to visit one weekend and you took me to me one of the families that you had worked with. It was a single mother who had a couple of young boys. She had worked her way through your program (HHSI) and had just moved in to her new home. I will never forget the happiness on the mother's face and the gratitude that she showed towards you for helping her make it to this point in her life. Having been a single parent, I know the struggles that parents face. Without family, that struggle can sometimes be impossible. However, you have made it possible for so many people to thrive. To me, you are an angel and the most amazing person that I have ever known. You have changed so many lives and we are all so fortunate to have you as our aunt. I love you and hope you have a wonderful birthday!!! Love, Abbie"

"Mary Ann,  I remember you always being involved in activities with not just me, but all of the cousins. Whether it was fishing, board games or badminton in the backyard, you were always interacting with us. When asked to write my memories of you, the first thing that came to mind was how much you give of yourself to help those less fortunate. You have a rare gift that many people wish to have -- the ability to look at everybody equally no matter what their situation or transgressions and present them with a path to better themselves. I am very blessed and thankful to have you as my aunt. Love, Ryan"
